Mental health and well being are being discussed a lot nowadays. However, many people are unaware that depression and anxiety are real – these are illnesses, just like typhoid or jaundice, replete with their own symptoms, treatments and prognoses. Yet, when someone is depressed, they are advised to “shake it off” or “just get on with it”.
This Mental Health Day, let’s all make a resolution to revive our childhood hobbies. Let’s commit to making time in our busy schedules every single day to do one thing that nourishes our soul and makes us happy.
Statistics show that in India, one in every five women is battling a mental health condition. The same statistics also reveal that one in every 10 men is battling mental health issues, but these are not given the priority they deserve.
